Writing a book to encourage not only reading but math skills is a very smart idea! This is a really fun book about mystery and learning to use our math skills. At the beginning of the book is an explanation of what to do. The reader is to follow the prompts and use their math skills to guess what happened to the missing cookies. Each time they guess they are to turn to a different page. If the reader is wrong the book helps them to understand why and fix their mistake. This is a really fun way to engage the reader and work on skills as important as math. Using a mystery is a great way to get the reader’s attention and keep it. The illustrations are simple and really bring this book to life. It makes the reader feel involved and not like they are working on skills. It also does a great job of making the reader feel good even if they make a mistake in their math. A wonderful resource for any library!
