The ABC’s are such an iconic song that it is often used to make things that are hard more relatable. The author uses the first letter of the song to help others understand differences and diversity. Each letter discusses something that makes others unique and different. The B is for bellies is only one small part of the book. The beauty is in that differences whether it be the shape of your body, the color of your skin, your height etc. is something that should be celebrated. This is a very different book in that it encourages others to embrace their differences. Through the use of the ABC song children are going to be more open to wanting to read the story. It is wonderful to see a book that showcases differences not just through words but through the illustrations too. Each pages illustrations really bring that letter and its words to life. The diversity is not only in the words but in the illustrations as well. The message is one to be shared and encouraged. The book wants children to grow up to be open and embracing themselves and others no matter their differences. It is a book with a beautiful message both in the words and the illustrations.
