Sesame Street does an amazing job of putting into a book how to take care of a dog in a way children will understand. Using a book as a resource to help prepare a child for an event like adopting a new dog is a very smart thing to do. In this book, each character talks about a different need for a dog and shows off their own dog. The illustrations using the characters are going to be enticing to a child. In addition, there are real-life pictures of adults and children with dogs for the reader to see and relate to. It uses simple words and shorter phrases which will be easier for a child to understand. It can be a good tool for a child to refer back to when they have a dog or puppy when interacting with them or trying to figure out how to feed or walk them. The use of this book is wonderful for any family with a new pet, one they have had for some time and any that enjoy reading about dogs.
